Same character, different art style: what transfers and what breaks

Moving a character from photo-real to watercolour to pixel art is a stress test: identity has to survive a change in every surface detail. What transfers well - Hair colour and silhouette. - A large signature item. - Skin tone, if the style allows realistic colour. What breaks first - Face structure, because stylised faces simplify proportions. - Eye colour in styles with small eyes. - Small accessories. Method 1. Start from your best reference image. 2. Keep the character record line identical; change only the style words at the end: watercolour illustration, flat vector, 16-bit pixel art. 3. Use IP-Adapter at a lower weight (0.5-0.6) than you would for a same-style image; at high weight it drags the reference's photo style along. 4. If the base model is good at one style and bad at another, change the model or add a style LoRA, not more prompt words. 5. Exaggerate the signature item for strongly stylised styles; a small earring will vanish, a big one survives. Remakes as a worked example The Studio's Remakes keep the layout of an ancient artwork and render it in three looks (realistic, half vaporwave, full MELEK look), and in several peoples side by side. Same composition, different surfaces. See https://wiki.soapbox.community/wiki/Remakes and the gallery at https://hathor.soapbox.community/remakes Post it as a strip One reference, three styles, same seed, same record line. Mark where identity broke. That is more useful than the prettiest single image.
