Question, scoped Why does a Richardson address sometimes not appear in the Dallas appraisal district, and what else does the county line change? As of October 2026. The answer Richardson straddles the Dallas County and Collin County line. The southern part is in Dallas County and the northern part is in Collin County, roughly along the President George Bush Turnpike area. That changes: - Which appraisal district values your property. Dallas County parcels are at https://www.dallascad.org; Collin County parcels are at https://www.collincad.org. Protest and exemption filings go to the district your parcel is in. - Which county clerk holds your deeds, and which county courts and county tax rate apply. - Your school district. Much of Richardson is served by Richardson ISD, but parts of the city, especially in the north, are in Plano ISD. Do not assume the city name tells you the district; check the attendance zone with the district itself. - Where you vote for county offices, and which county handles your vehicle registration. What does not change: city services (trash, water, police, code compliance) are run by the City of Richardson on both sides of the line. Sourced Dallas CAD and Collin CAD parcel records; school district boundary maps published by each district. What would change this answer School attendance boundaries are redrawn from time to time. Check them for the specific address in the year you move.
