Every number below is read from the chain's own configuration (condenser_api.get_config and get_reward_fund), not from memory. The payout clock A post or comment pays out once, exactly seven days after it is published (STEEM_CASHOUT_WINDOW_SECONDS = 604800). Until then you see a pending amount that rises and falls with votes. The split Half the reward goes to the author and half to the curators who voted (percent_curation_rewards = 5000, i.e. 50%). The lockout In the last twelve hours before payout, new upvotes no longer add value (STEEM_UPVOTE_LOCKOUT_SECONDS = 43200). A last-minute vote cannot swing the result. Voting power Every vote spends some voting power, which refills over five days (STEEM_VOTING_MANA_REGENERATION_SECONDS = 432000). You can change a vote on a post up to five times. Curation timing Voting on good work early earns a larger share of the curation half than piling on after it is already popular. That is the whole incentive to read new posts instead of the trending page. Claiming Rewards wait until you claim them: wallet, then Redeem Rewards (Transfer to Balance). No downvote button MELEK took BLURT's removal of downvotes and rejected BLURT's per-operation fee. Abuse is reported with the post's Report link. Rewards are amounts of MELEK, not dollars. MELEK has no market price at present. Sources: https://wiki.soapbox.community/wiki/Post_Rewards_on_MELEK https://wiki.soapbox.community/wiki/Voting_and_Curation_on_MELEK
